During certain times of the year, YMCA Northumberland offers certification for Standard First Aid, Bronze Cross and Bronze Medallion, National Lifeguard (Pool) and National Lifeguard (Waterfront).

LEADERSHIP COURSES

We will be running these courses this spring:

  • Cobourg Y: National Lifeguard Two Weekend Course
  • Cobourg Y : National Lifeguard Recertification Course
  • Cobourg Y: Bronze Medallion Weekend Course

Due to low enrollment numbers, the Campbellford National Lifeguard Course is not running. Swimmers are encouraged to register and join the Cobourg National Lifeguard Course in April.

Cobourg Y: National Lifeguard Two Weekend Course

Ages:15+

Pre-Requisite: Bronze Cross and current Standard First Aid/CPR ‘C’ 

Course Schedule:

  • Weekend 1: Friday, April 10 – Sunday, April 12
  • Weekend 2: Friday, April 24 – Sunday, April 26

    • Fridays: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM

    • Saturdays: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

    • Sundays: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

100% attendance and participation is required.
Cost is $395 + HST (includes all manuals and exam fees)

Cobourg Y : National Lifeguard Recertification Course

Train, recertify, and join our dynamic aquatics team!

If you’ve held your National Lifeguard Certification in the past, we’ll get you ready to dive back into Lifeguarding in no time.

Course Schedule

Saturday, April 26: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Cost is $95 + HST (includes all manuals and exam fees)

National Lifeguard certification remains current for 24 months from the date of certification. Participants must bring proof of their original with them.

YOUTH COURSES

COBOURG & CAMPBELLFORD Ys : Red Cross Stay Safe Courses

For Youth Ages 9 – 12 years

Your child will learn about being safe when they are at home and in their community without direct supervision.

  • Safety strategies for home and community
  • Basic first aid techniques
  • Staying safe when unsupervised

At  Campbellford Y (at Sunny Life Recreation and Wellness Centre):

Runs for one day:

    • Saturday, May 30: 10:00am – 4:00pm

At Cobourg Y:

Cost is $46.50 Members / $67 Non-Members.

COBOURG & CAMPBELLFORD Ys : Red Cross Babysitting Courses

For Youth Ages 11 – 16 years

  • Learn Basic First Aid
  • Acquire Caregiving Skills for a variety of age groups
  • Learn how to prevent & respond to emergencies
  • Learn how to promote yourself as a babysitter

At  Campbellford Y (at Sunny Life Recreation and Wellness Centre):

    • Friday, April 17: 5:30pm – 7:30pm
    • Saturday, April 18: 10:00am – 4:00pm

At Cobourg Y:

    • Friday, May 8: 6:00PM – 8:00PM
    • Saturday, May 9: 10:00AM – 4:00PM
