During certain times of the year, YMCA Northumberland offers certification for Standard First Aid, Bronze Cross and Bronze Medallion, National Lifeguard (Pool) and National Lifeguard (Waterfront).

CAMPBELLFORD Y : National Lifeguard Recertification Course

Train, recertify, and join our dynamic aquatics team!
If you’ve held your National Lifeguard Certification in the past, we’ll get you ready to dive back into Lifeguarding in no time.
Course Runs 2:00-3:00 pm on Wednesdays Nov. 5, 12, 19, 26 & Dec. 3, 10.
It’s time to get back in the chair and back in action.
Campbellford Y: National Life Guard Course
We are running this course for 6 sessions on Sundays this fall.
Pre-Requisite: Min. 15 years of age, Bronze Cross, Standard First Aid/CPR ‘C’ (proof must be shown on the 1st day)
- Campbellford Indoor Pool
- 9:00am – 3:30pm
- Every Sunday, starting November 9th to December 14th
Campbellford Y: YMCA Certified AquaFit Instructor Course
Join our YMCA Certified AquaFit Instructor Course this fall and become certified to lead group fitness classes in an aquatic setting. Participants 16 years and older will first complete the YMCA Basic Fitness Theory course before moving on to the AquaFit certification. The course is divided into two parts with e-learning modules and in-person sessions, allowing time to practice and develop skills between sessions.
You will master:
- Properties of water | Shallow & deep-water exercises
- Cueing, transitions & musicality | Class design & choreograph
- Understanding participants | Muscles, joints & exercise modifications
- Ability to lead: AquaFit, Gentle AquaFit, Aqua Yoga, and Water Bootcamps

Location: Campbellford YMCA – Therapy/Lap Pool & Multi-Purpose Room
Fees:
- Members: $250
- Non-Members: $325
- Staff/Volunteers: $66.95
All fees include HST.
Materials to Bring: Swim suit, bottled water, lunch, pen, and notepaper. Handouts will be provided by the instructor.
Requirements:

Complete e-Learning: Basic Theory + AquaFit e-learning modules Part 1 & Part 2 at least one week before the course. Full attendance is mandatory.
Registration:
Participants must contact Eric Mejorado to enroll in the prerequisite course: YMCA Basic Fitness Theory (6–8 hours e-learning).

In Cobourg, we are running this course during the December holidays. Here are the detail:
Pre-Requisite: Min. 13 years of age OR Bronze Star Certification (proof must be shown on the 1st day)

YOUTH COURSES
COBOURG Y & CAMPBELLFORD : Red Cross StaySafe Courses
For Youth Ages 9 – 13 years
Your child will learn about being safe when they are at home and in their community without direct supervision.

- Basic first aid techniques
- Staying safe when unsupervised
- Course Runs at the Cobourg Y for 5 weeks: Tuesdays, starting September 9 from 5:00pm-6:00pm
- Course Runs at the Campbellford Y for one day: Saturday, October 4 from 10:00am-4:00pm
Cost is $40 Members / $65 Non-Members.
