Emily, a Northumberland County native, returned to Cobourg a decade ago after a seven-year stint as an international security analyst in England. As a Councillor for Cobourg from 2018-2022, Emily developed a deep understanding of local health and recreation services, emphasizing the impact of strategic collaborations. Emily also served as the Coordinator of Parks and Recreation Services, and contributed to the Memorial Arena, Cobourg’s Parks and Recreation and the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Advisory Committees.

In addition, Emily initiated a ‘Women in Governance’ mentorship program and served on a local school board’s First Nation, Métis, and Inuit Education Advisory Committee. Furthermore, as a volunteer with a refugee sponsorship group, she witnessed firsthand how the YMCA helps newcomers integrate into the community.
