Notice of Nomination for Board of Directors 2025-2028

The Governance Committee respectfully submits the following nominations for the YMCA Northumberland Board of Directors for the period 2025-2028.

Elections for these positions will take place at the Annual Meeting on Thursday, April 24, 2025.

Their term of office begins immediately following the adjournment of the aforementioned Annual General Meeting.

MEET THE PROPOSED BOARD MEMBERS

James Behan

JAMES BEHAN

Cobourg

Born and raised in Cobourg, Ontario, James Behan initially served as a summer camp volunteer and then as a summer camp counsellor at the Cobourg YMCA during his high school years. After high school, James pursued a career in education, earning a Bachelor of Arts and Education from Queen’s University and taught internationally in Mexico for 2 years after graduating.

For the last six years James has been working as part of his family’s local business at Behan Construction. James has served in a variety of roles during the six years and worked on numerous projects throughout Northumberland County.

James is proud to be a member of YMCA Northumberland and is excited to now have the opportunity to give back once again as a volunteer on the YMCA Board of Directors.

James’s connections, expertise and local roots will support the YMCA’s current strategic plan of growth and serving more people in our Northumberland communities, helping efforts to expand and flourish.

IAIN MACINNES

Warkworth

A seasoned financial advisor, Iain MacInnes immigrated to Canada from his native Scotland as a pre-teen. After achieving a Business and Commerce degree from the University of Windsor, Iain became a bank manager for CIBC in Southwestern Ontario for 7 years, before turning his talents to the investment world. He went on to become a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), working at various financial institutions before settling as investment advisor and Vice President of RBC Dominion Securities in London, Ontario. Upon retiring in 2016, he found his way to Northumberland County.

An energetic multi-tasker, Iain has served on the boards of the McMichael Canadian Art Gallery Foundation; the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) in London-Middlesex; the London Family Court Clinic; and the London Prostate Cancer Foundation. He was also co-founder and director of the publicly listed, Montreal-based biotechnology companies, Ambrilia Biopharma and Procyin Biopharma Inc.—both involved in cancer research.

Iain also holds a Professional Directors’ degree from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management. The proud father of three daughters, he and his partner, Jeanne Beker, live in an 1850 historic home in Warkworth, where Iain’s been kept busy with a myriad of renovation projects. Iain and Jeanne are also happy new members of Campbellford’s wonderful new YMCA.

KEVIN GRIFFIN

Campbellford

Kevin Griffin is an experienced leader in health and community services, higher education, and paramedic services. As the Dean for the School of Health and Community Services at Fleming College, he oversees academic and administrative functions. Previously, Kevin spent two decades at Durham College, contributing to academic program development and serving as an Internal Governor on the Board of Governors.

With an M.A. in Community College Education from Central Michigan University, as well as certification as an Advanced Care Paramedic, Kevin has been involved with the Health Standards Organization and the Canadian Medical Association, focusing on accreditation and quality assurance.

Kevin is committed to community engagement and has actively participated in fundraising activities to address food insecurity. He is eager to bring his diverse skill set to the YMCA Board of Directors and support the residents of Northumberland County.
